Tjejjouren Väst offers chat-based support to girls and non-binary people. Every year, they notice an increase in the number of people seeking support and every week they need to turn aid-seekers down. We were assigned to help them help more.
Many thousands have downloaded the app since launch day in 2019.

Insight

To be able to provide unlimited help and support to the growing target group, we needed to make the product that was accessible at all hours. It was also crucial to find a tone of voice that was believable and worked for the target group and to make sure we provided them with the help and information they requested and needed.

Idea

We decided to develop the digital tool Stella. It’s an app based on an extensive qualitative research in which 600 representatives from the target group told us how they deal with their anxiety and health today, what kind of information and support they lack and what kind of help they are looking for. This resulted in an app filled with research-based articles, exercises to reduce anxiety and stress, a diary function and a chat in which you could talk directly to an adult who listens.

Impact

The app received a lot of attention in social as well as traditional media and was quickly downloaded 2 000 times, with another 200 new users weekly. The response from professionals who work with children and young adults have been exclusively positive and the app has received the highest grade in App store. Tjejjouren Väst declares that app users regularly tell them that the app helped them through tough times with anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

It all started with a workshop
